More Democrats Call for President Biden to Drop Out of Race

Politico: Several more senior House Democrats called on President Joe Biden to abandon his reelection bid during a private call convened by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Sunday afternoon. Among those forcefully calling for Biden to stand down during the nearly two-hour call were Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.), Mark Takano (D-Calif.) and Joe Morelle (D-N.Y.). The additional calls for Biden to stand aside from senior Democrats come after the president’s performance during an interview last week with ABC News did nothing to assuage concerns among rank-and-file lawmakers about his continued viability in the race (Politico). Daily Wire: Democratic pollster Nate Silver called on President Joe Biden to resign the presidency and transition power to Vice President Kamala Harris following his “incoherent” interview with ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos (Daily Wire).

Mollie Hemingway: “Everything can be understood through the prism of whether it helps or hurts the Democrat Party"
Real Clear Politics: Mollie Hemingway comments on why the Beltway media is turning on President Joe Biden at this time, on FNC’s “Media Buzz.” “They didn’t cover the story because they thought it would be bad for Democrats to talk about the senility of the president. And now they’re covering it because they’ve lost confidence in their ability to drag Joe Biden across the finish line” (Real Clear Politics). Vincent Langman: Spot on Cometary from Mollie Hemingway regarding the corrupt White House press corps (X).

Radio Host Confirms White House Sent Questions to Ask Biden Before Interview, Host Gets Fired
Axios: President Biden’s White House went around its normal processes for his first post-debate interview with a Black radio station earlier this week. The White House helped draft the questions that the host asked the president. Then the Biden campaign sent them to the radio station, given it was technically a campaign interview. It is the latest instance of the White House continuing to shield the president from unscripted moments, even after his debate performance raised further questions about his mental fitness (Axios). Victor Blackwell CNN: A radio host who interviewed President Biden Wednesday tells me the White House sent her the questions before the interview (X). Benny Johnson: Radio host FIRED after saying she received and used questions provided from Joe Biden’s team ahead of the interview. WURD Radio’s statement: “The interview featured pre-determined questions provided by the White House, which violates our practice of remaining an independent media outlet accountable to our listeners” (X).

Biden to Make a Decision in Coming Days on His Campaign Status
CNN: President Joe Biden’s struggle to prove he’s got the strength and cognitive capacity for a second term is becoming an excruciating personal and national ordeal. Watching a visibly aged Biden answer frank questions Friday about his health on primetime television – which would normally remain between a patient and their doctor – felt like an affront to presidential dignity. It was sad to see a person who’s respected and beloved by many Americans suffer such a plight. And it would be a hard heart that did not empathize with Biden as he confronts the painful human realities of aging in the most public manner imaginable. Yet Biden’s position, his shocking presidential debate performance and his defiant refusal to contemplate its implications for his reelection campaign, mean he’s forcing the country to have the conversation (CNN). Fox News: Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, a Democrat, said Saturday that President Biden could make a decision within days on whether he stays in the presidential election race to seek a second term. This comes after Green participated in a recent meeting with Biden and nearly two dozen fellow Democrat governors amid concerns about the president’s re-election campaign (Fox News).

Joy Reid Claims She Would Vote for Biden if He Was in a Coma, Repeatedly Calls Trump “Hitler”
She states she does not even like President Biden or his policies. Townhall: MSNBC host Joy Reid said she would rather vote for a comatose Joe Biden than former President Donald Trump. Reid went off in a rant about how she would vote for President Biden over Trump, who she called Hitler, even if he was in a coma. “Let me know when you guys are finished fighting amongst yourselves who I gotta vote for in November to keep Hitler out the White House. That’s all I wanna know,” Reid said in a social media video. “By the way, if it’s Biden in a coma, Imma vote for Biden in a coma” (Townhall). Hill: Democrats across the country are debating whether Biden should remain as the party’s standard-bearer this fall after an unsettling debate performance reinforced worries about his age. The White House is insistent that Biden, 81, is not leaving the presidential race, and Biden said in a fundraising email sent Wednesday that nobody “is pushing” him “out” (Hill). Reporter T.J. Moe: Joy Reid thinks screaming “HITLER!!” on repeat is going to work again (X).

Adam Schiff States Biden, Trump Should Both Take Cognitive Tests
Mediaite: Influential House Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (CA) is calling for President Joe Biden — as well as former President Donald Trump — to take a cognitive exam. Appearing on Meet the Press Sunday, Schiff — who is the Demcratic nominee for one of California’s U.S. Senate seats in 2024 — said that age is the sole reason that Biden, who is 81, is struggling in the polls against Trump. “Given Joe Biden’s incredible record, given Donald Trump’s terrible record, he should be mopping the floor with Donald Trump,” Schiff said. “Joe Biden is running against a criminal. It should not be even close. And there’s only one reason it is close. And that’s the president’s age” (Mediaite). ALX: Adam Schiff says Joe Biden and Donald Trump should take a cognitive test (X).

Biden’s Staffers Provide Pictures of Venues Biden Speaks At Detailing His View From the Podium and Where He Should Walk Off
Axios: For his events, President Biden’s staffers prepare a short document with large print and photos that include his precise path to a podium, according to an event template the White House sends to staffers. Before a presidential event, the White House sends event staffers a document to emulate when preparing their own materials for the president…One template — a copy of which was obtained by Axios — is short and simple, with one large picture of the event space on each page, accompanied with big text such as: “View from podium,” and “View from audience” (Axios). End Wokeness: Biden’s instructions just leaked to Axios. Now that they want him replaced, expect a lot more leaks like this. Expect a flood (X).

Radical Left Groups Riot in Paris After Electoral Victory in
Associated Press: A coalition of the French left that quickly banded together to beat a surging far right in legislative elections won the most seats in parliament but not a majority, according to polling projections Sunday, a stunning outcome that threatens to plunge the country into political and economic turmoil. The projections put President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist alliance in second, no longer in control of parliament, and the bruised far right in third. With no bloc securing a clear majority, France faces uncertainty that could rattle markets and its economy, the European Union’s second-largest, and cast a shadow of political instability over the Paris Olympics opening in less than three weeks (Associated Press). Andy Ngo: Paris — Chaotic scenes in the city center as masked leftist rioters and Antifa are running through the streets to celebrate the socialist and communist coalition electoral win. An explosive device goes off at the Place de la République (X). Collin Rugg: Riots break out in Paris, France after France’s snap parliamentary election. These clowns will riot for anything. The riots come as the left-wing New Popular Front is set to win the most seats in the 2nd round of the election. The rioters are likely angry that they won’t be clinching an absolute majority (X). Visgrad 24: Paris has turned into a battlefield tonight as the far-left is celebrating its election win by attacking the police (X).

French Prime Minister to Resign Following Elections
CNBC: French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said he would submit his resignation on Monday, after early poll data showed his and French President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Ensemble party and its allies coming in second in the parliamentary runoff. Ensemble and its allies are projected to secure between 150 and 180 seats, according to an IFOP estimate, behind the leading New Popular Front’s 180-215 result. France now looks likely to be stranded in a hung-parliament scenario that divides it between three strongly represented parties that must broker alliances to gain absolute control (CNBC).

Democrat Leadership Against GOP Bill Requiring Proof of Citizenship to Vote
Axios: House Democratic leadership is bringing out the big guns against a Republican bill set to be voted on next week that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections, Axios has learned. House Republicans have made non-citizen voting in federal elections a marquee issue going into the 2024 campaign. That could include a passport, a photo ID card that proves a voter was born in the U.S. or another form of photo ID along with supporting documentation such as a birth certificate, the bill says. The bill, House Minority Whip Katherine Clark’s (D-Mass.) office said, would “prevent Americans from registering to vote with their drivers’ license alone” and would make a passport the “only acceptable standalone form of identification.” They added that the bill would create an “extreme burden for countless Americans” and “further intimidate election officials and overburden states’ abilities to enroll new voters.”  (Axios). Speaker Mike Johnson: The SAVE Act will safeguard our elections by ensuring only American citizens vote in federal elections (X).
