FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 118, Issue #69 Dear Friends/Amigos, I hope you and your loved ones had a restful and reflective Fourth of July! For me, the holiday carries so much meaning and not just because it is the day we celebrate our independence from Britain. It also means the world to me that I, the daughter of Cuban refugees, have the privilege to represent our beautiful community here in Miami. Thank you all for making Miami the special place that it is. It is an honor to be able to serve you in Congress. As always, if you would like to leave me and my office a comment, call (202) 225-3931. Sincerely/Atentamente, María E. Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) ICYMI: EXPOSING THE CURSE OF SOCIALISM IN CENTRAL AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN! In a hearing I convened in the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I dove into the Biden Administration's policy towards our neighbors in Latin America, taking a close look at Cuba, Nicaragua, and Honduras. In these three countries, alarming new developments warrant decisive American action. For example, the socialist Nicaraguan government under the dictators Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo are now facilitating charter flights from around the world filled with people who are seeking to cross the U.S. southern border illegally. This situation is only made more pressing knowing that 8 Tajikistani members of the terrorist group ISIS who made this journey were apprehended in the United States. This national security risk definitely warrants the placement of Nicaragua on the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
