John,
A major political shift is happening in most Western countries.
Populist, patriotic, right-wing parties are on the rise almost everywhere.
This week, Nigel Farage’s Reform Party rose from the fringe to become the third most popular party in the UK elections.
Farage had failed seven times to win a seat at Westminster before he finally succeeded this week.
Because the first-past-the-post electoral system often brings totally skewed results, they got 14% of the popular vote, but won only five seats out of 650.
That was still a spectacular breakthrough.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak’s fake Conservatives registered their worst-ever results.
In France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, and other Western countries facing the same problems as Canada, parties sharing values and policies broadly similar to those of the People’s Party are either rising in popularity, or have gained power.
One way or another, they’re having a huge influence on the political dynamics.
The PPC only got 1.6% of the vote at its first election in 2019, and then rose to 4.9% in 2021.
In a system with proportional representation, we would have elected 16 MPs last time.
Will we increase our vote share and be able to win seats at the next election?
I certainly hope so, but I can’t guarantee it.
What I can guarantee is that Pierre Poilievre, who will be the next prime minister according to polls, is going to disappoint everybody, just like the British Conservatives.
They won’t stop mass immigration.
They won’t fight wokism, DEI, radical gender ideology, and anti-white racism.
They won’t take Canada out of the Paris Accord.
They won’t abolish Trudeau’s new unconstitutional programs and policies.
They won’t stop sending money and weapons to Zelensky.
John, Canada can’t afford not to have a well-organized populist alternative to the establishment parties, like all other Western countries.
Be part of the change.
