Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Have questions? Contact Me Here Happy Fourth of July! Happy Independence Day Weekend, NY-24! As we gather with friends and family to enjoy our district's stunning lakes, beautiful weather, dazzling fireworks, and backyard barbecues, let us take a moment to reflect on the significance of this holiday and the true reason we can celebrate these freedoms. Independence Day celebrates the birth of the most incredible nation in the world: the United States of America. Since July 4, 1776, the sacrifices by our country's brave men and women have been made to earn and keep that title. We honor the strength of all those who have gone before us and continue the fight to shape America into that shining city on a hill nations look to and respect. Let us spend the weekend recalling all the tremendous principles that have defined us as a nation. God bless the United States of America! Trump v. United States: A Landmark Victory for Presidential Immunity and President Trump President Trump had every right to examine the legitimacy of the 2020 election on behalf of the American people. The historic Trump v. United States decision established that presidents are generally immune from criminal prosecution for their official actions. This includes absolute immunity for actions that fall exclusively under presidential authority and cannot be regulated by Congress, such as the power to pardon or veto. This was a massive victory for the rule of law and defended presidential immunity, ensuring that the president could act in the best interest of the American people without fear of retaliation. By upholding presidential immunity, the Supreme Court has sent a powerful message that our Constitution and our democratic institutions must be protected from those who seek to manipulate our legal system for partisan purposes. This ruling is a win for the Constitution and our system of justice. Recognizing 1st Class Quartermaster Gene Gerrard Eugene Gerrard, a WWII veteran commonly known as Gene, is a cherished member of our community who recently celebrated his 102nd birthday. Gene began his service in the Coast Guard in 1942 and served until 1945. During his time with the Coast Guard, he was able to achieve the rank of 1st Class Quartermaster. Gene received an American Area Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, and several more for his service during WWII. Gene lives a life fully engaged with his community. As former chief of the Mt. Sinai Fire Department and volunteer for the Canandaigua VA Medical Center as a Red Coat Ambassador, Gene has devoted his life to the service of others. To make a recent birthday ceremony surrounded by friends and family even sweeter, Gene was awarded with a New York State Senate Citation on the festive day. Happy belated birthday Gene, and thank you for your honorable service and lasting positive impact on our community! Announcing $40 Million in Regional Tech Hub Funding for Upstate New York I am pleased to announce that the New York Semiconductor Manufacturing and Research Technology Innovation Corridor has been selected to receive $40 million in Phase II funding in the Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs) Program. The NY SMART I-Corridor was designated a Regional Tech Hub during Phase I of the Tech Hubs program, and the selection for Phase II highlights the great potential and capability of the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse region. The coalition will further allow this region to combine its expertise in advanced manufacturing with ongoing and new investments in semiconductor and sensing technology. With this additional investment into the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse corridor and its designation as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub, our region is poised to lead in innovative advancements that will benefit our nation and the world. This funding will not only onshore critical parts of our nation's supply chain but also bring jobs to our communities and promote technological advancement, thereby boosting our regional economy. I am eager to witness the positive impact this funding will have on our community. The Summer Travel Season is in Full-Swing School and the sun are OUT, and summer is officially ON!
