When I was 21, I became pregnant. But I learned that with my aortic aneurysm, it would be impossible to carry the pregnancy to term.
So, I had an abortion.
I share my story because it’s not a secret, and it’s not shameful. I want the millions of people who’ve made the decision to seek abortion care to know they’re not alone.
My right to make the best decision for my health and future was protected by Roe v. Wade. Now, people in Tennessee and other GOP-controlled states are being denied that choice. It’s abhorrent.
The right to make our own reproductive health care decisions is fundamental. We cannot be equal if we don’t have control over our own bodies. The GOP wants to turn back the clock on every bit of progress generations have fought for, taking us back to a time before abortion was safe and legal.
I’ve listened to folks all over Tennessee, and here’s what I know: People want our communities to be safer, with access to birth control, IVF, and, yes, abortion.
I’m running for U.S. Senate from Tennessee because we need more champions for abortion rights in Washington. And when I get there, I won’t hesitate to use every power available to demand a restoration of our reproductive freedoms at the federal level. We have to secure our rights and prevent radicals like Marsha Blackburn from enacting a national ban.
I’m asking you to split a small grassroots donation — just $5 or $10 — between Lisa Blunt Rochester and my campaign to help me fight for reproductive rights as Tennessee’s next Senator. Can I count on your support?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately and be split between Gloria Johnson and Lisa Blunt Rochester:
