The bipartisan SALT Caucus, Co-Chaired by U.S. Representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Young Kim (CA-40), Andrew Garbarino (NY-2), and Tom Suozzi (NY-3), held a meeting to discuss new efforts to restore the State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction. During the Caucus meeting, members aligned on their strategy for fully restoring the SALT deduction ahead of the 2025 expiration of the Tax Cut & Jobs Act (TCJA)...'The SALT cap is detrimental for my constituents who pay some of the highest state and local taxes in the country. As co-chair of the SALT Caucus, ensuring that SALT relief is included in any 2025 tax package is my top priority and one we will continue to work on in a bipartisan manner. The cap amounts to unfair double taxation on hardworking middle-class Americans and cannot be allowed to stand. I look forward to working together with my fellow Caucus members and House leadership to come to a resolution,' said Representative Andrew Garbarino (NY-02).
