ACTION SPOTLIGHT

Protect Alaska’s Public Lands from Mining
and Oil and Gas Drilling

Good news: The Biden administration
recently took a huge step toward maintaining protections for 28
million acres of public lands across Alaska.

Losing these safeguards would open sensitive areas to destructive
mining and oil and gas drilling. That includes lands within
Alaska’s Bristol Bay, where we’re already fighting to stop the
Pebble Mine and other proposed mining projects.

Tell the Biden administration to
finalize these vital protections for Alaska’s public lands —
before it’s too late. ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Debriefing the Chevron Decision: What's
Next?

Two weeks ago, the Supreme Court
overturned the Chevron Deference, a bedrock legal precedent
established in a case NRDC argued 40 years ago.

This terrible ruling will weaken the
government's ability to protect us from climate change and other
threats to our health and environment — and make it easier for
polluters, pesticide companies, and other corporate bad actors to
challenge critical environmental laws in the courts in front of
unaccountable and potentially biased judges.

RSVP to join us this Tuesday, July 9,
for an exclusive NRDC webinar with NRDC President Manish Bapna
and our legal experts about this historic ruling and learn how
NRDC will continue taking on the fossil fuel industry and others
threatening communities across the country. ( [link removed] )

BIG WINS

* Biden’s Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA) Proposes First-Ever Federal Heat
Protections for Workers: The proposed protections come as
climate-fueled heat waves struck much of the U.S. this year,
putting millions of farm, construction, warehouse, airline, and
other workers at risk of heat stroke, heart failure and more.

Pipe Replacement: The State of Michigan plans to take over the
remaining work on Flint’s lead pipe replacement program, which
includes addressing nearly 1,900 homes that require repairs to
fix damaged lawns, sidewalks, driveways, and curbs. Read more >

STORYTELLER SPOTLIGHT

When Customers and Investors Demand
Corporate Sustainability

When customers and shareholders speak up,
companies take action. After years of advocacy by NRDC and
others, Kimberly-Clark, owner of household brands like Kleenex
and Cottonelle, committed last month to being more sustainable in
their supply chain — and they’re not the only ones. Read more

ACTION ROUNDUP

* Tell Procter & Gamble to stop
flushing our forests! ( [link removed] ) Kimberly-Clark, one of P&G’s biggest competitors, just
committed to more sustainable sourcing for toilet paper. Tell P&G
to do the same. Take action > ( [link removed] )

* Protect the Arctic from Big Oil: ( [link removed] ) ConocoPhillips and other fossil fuel companies are relentlessly
attempting to exploit the Arctic for climate-busting oil and gas
drilling. Urge the Biden administration to protect the Western
Arctic from dirty fossil fuel development. Submit a public
comment > ( [link removed] )

* Keep Toxic “Forever Chemicals” Out of Our Drinking Water: ( [link removed] ) Stand up against corporate villains and tell the EPA you
support limiting toxic PFAS chemicals in drinking water. Take
action > ( [link removed] )
