My name is Jessalyn Haefele, and I have been a proud supporter of Her Bold Move through both my time and my funds for more than 3 years. Today, I wanted to share the reasons behind that decision in hopes that you will join me in supporting this desperately needed work.

I donated to HBM because I have experienced firsthand many times throughout my life being left out of important conversations and decisions happening in rooms full of men. The only way we are going to be a part of the policies and decisions that affect us is if we are represented equally across all forms of government at all levels. I want people who share my values and understand my experiences to be representing me.

I donated to HBM because I believe it’s important to make change at the local level, in my own neighborhood, before we can expect anything to change at the national level. HBM is one of the best organizations that supports women candidates who are working to create change in their communities – and the only national org prioritizing the lives of the millions of women who live in states with abortion bans.

I donated to HBM because access to reproductive healthcare has directly affected my life and the lives of so many of my family and friends. I refuse to live in a world where women do not have autonomy over their own bodies, and I am committed to helping elect women to office who will defend those rights fiercely.

I donated to HBM because I like knowing that my donation is going towards helping women who are stepping up to run in elections where they might not be getting the support or visibility of a “career” politician. I like knowing I am supporting women who are standing up to outdated ideologies and working tirelessly for change in communities that are often overlooked. I like being part of an organization that is committed to uplifting all of us – not only in the way HBM supports its qualified candidates but also in the way they support future generations of women leaders through their student fellowship program and community outreach programs.
