If the US Postal Service fails, rural America will suffer the most
-Vox

John --

The United States Postal Service delivers mail to every single address in America.

From downtown Anchorage to the outskirts of Utqiagvik to everywhere in between, Alaskans depend on the USPS to communicate with friends and family, conduct business, and even vote in elections.

And for rural residents and Alaska Natives, who often lack other connectivity resources like broadband, the USPS is more than a service -- it's a lifeline.

That's why it's even more terrible to see Dan Sullivan refuse to back the USPS and stand up to Donald Trump -- who is refusing to provide aid to this essential service during the pandemic.

Plus, as we continue to endure a pandemic during this election year, we need to take additional steps to protect absentee ballots and voting by mail -- both of which rely on USPS and are crucial services to voters in rural Alaska.

We can't have a fully in-person election during a pandemic -- but we can't have a safe vote-by-mail option without the USPS.

Dan Sullivan is sitting back and playing lackey as Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell make decisions that will devastate Alaskans. It's time Dan Sullivan put Alaska's interests before his own. Sign the petition right now and demand he stand up and defend the USPS.

The USPS handles an astonishing 47% of the world's mail.

During the coronavirus pandemic, 500,000 postal workers have been on the front lines across the country delivering medications, essential products, and other supplies families need to stay safe -- including the ballots that allowed Alaskans to safely vote from home during our primary election earlier this month.

Households across the country count on the USPS.

Households and Native communities in rural Alaska depend entirely on it.

If the USPS is not essential -- then what is?

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have made it clear that they won't fight for the USPS -- and by staying silent, Dan Sullivan has made it clear that he won't fight for Alaskans. We need Dan Sullivan to step up and protect the USPS. If you agree, add your name today.

In these uncertain times, it's never mattered more to send a doctor to Washington who can take on the failed status quo and deliver a real prescription for change.
