What an awesome Independence Day.

Nothing revives my spirit and hope for this country quite like the Fourth of July. I'm extraordinarily thankful to be an American. I love this country, which opened its doors to my immigrant parents when they were young, allowing them to enjoy the blessings of freedom and opportunity that so many countries lack.

That's why I'm so committed to following the Constitution and defending liberty: I want to preserve this country's promise for future generations.

And there's nothing that brings it all home like the celebration and energy of Independence Day parades.

It was an honor this year to see so many friends, old and new, and to feel such support from the people of Michigan.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers who came out to be a part of it—and literally ran from parade to parade with us!—and to all the supporters I met along the routes.
