A Category 5 Atlantic Hurricane has torn through the Caribbean and is
heading for Texas.^1

As the climate crisis worsens, hurricane season will only become more
disastrous.

Weather events like floods, fires, and droughts have become more extreme
due to climate change, leading to social crises that disproportionately
impact Black, brown, and Indigenous communities. Without our leaders in
Congress prioritizing a federal Green New Deal, these underfunded cities
can’t make the necessary investments in frontline communities to protect
or repair from the devastating harm of extreme weather events.

Lives and entire communities are at risk. We need to pass a Green New Deal
to invest in updating our buildings, homes, transportation, and state
infrastructure to withstand rising temperatures, floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, and more. Our window to take meaningful, tangible action to
tackle the climate crisis head-on is closing.

Our network is continuously working to amplify calls to action for
Congress to take the climate crisis with the seriousness it deserves.
