John, 17 years ago I married the love of my life, Dawn.

The day she said yes was the day that things changed forever. We eloped in 2007 in Las Vegas while I was on leave from service in Afghanistan. It was one of the best days of my life.

Since then, Dawn has stood by my side through thick and thin. She is my best friend, and I am eternally grateful for everything she has helped me through. From raising our two young kids to joining me on the campaign trail when I ran for Governor, to championing reproductive justice as First Lady and adding our dog to the mix, she has been my rock for almost two decades.

17 years later, we are still standing strong, fighting for a better future for our family and everyone who is by our side. Together, we are making this Maryland’s decade.
