News from Representative Robert Aderholt

Dear Mr. xxxxxx:

Good Saturday morning. I hope you had a Happy 4th of July and are continuing to enjoy the holiday weekend. It’s hard to believe half of the year is now over. June in Washington brought hot weather and a busy month on the Hill.

Returning Federal Employees to Work

June saw a renewed push to return federal employees to the office. I sat for multiple interviews to talk to the American people about this issue and how it affects them. One of those interviews was with Fox News, which you can watch with the YouTube link above.

The American people deserve to know how many employees are working in federal offices on their behalf.  Therefore, my Labor Health & Human Services, and Education funding bill has language that would require federal agencies to report the percentage of employees that work from home on their website, includes reporting requirements, and cuts administrative costs respectively. Federal employees, specifically those with public facing positions, must be in the office where they can effectively serve the American people.

National Institutes of Health Reform

I co-authored an op-ed with Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, regarding the need for National Institutes of Health reform. In this op-ed, we argue for the need to fundamentally change the way the NIH operates. Changes such as combining certain Institutes that work on related issues would massively aid in increasing the effectiveness of the NIH.
We also called on the NIH to provide more transparency in the way they spend grant money. This would allow the taxpayer to know where their hard-earned dollars are being spent.

Supreme Court Rulings on Pro-Life Issues

Image

This month, the Supreme Court made two significant rulings regarding issues that pertain to pro-life causes. The Court ruled in both cases, not on the merits of each case, but instead on standing.

The first case was FDA v. AHM. This case involved a challenge on the regulation of the abortion pill mifepristone. The Court ruled that this drug would remain widely accessible, including the ability to order by mail.

The Court also ruled on State of Idaho v. United States of America. The Administration sued the state of Idaho in this case, claiming that their state prolife law conflicted with federal law. Voters in Idaho chose to preserve life and the Administration is attempting to overturn the will of the people.

Ram on the Lam in Arab

We try to end the newsletter with something on the lighter side. We saw this story about a ram that has been on the loose in Arab. You can read more on the ram from a story from WAAY in Huntsville here

I hope you have a great July. Congress will be back in session next week. And then Caroline and I will be off to the Republican Convention in Milwaukee the following week. I will be back in touch the first Saturday in August. Until then, may God bless you and your loved ones.

Sincerely,
