U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) released a statement this week in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity. The ruling addresses the extent to which a sitting president is protected from legal actions pertaining to their official duties.
“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court helps to ensure that the leader of the free world can effectively execute the duties of their office without fear of retribution from political prosecutions, particularly as it relates to a President’s core constitutional powers and other official acts,” said Senator Britt. “The Court’s decision upholds and protects America’s foundational system of separated powers and checks and balances.”
Senator Britt also expressed concern over what she perceives as a partisan effort to undermine the judiciary. “Democrats’ continued partisan campaign to delegitimize the Supreme Court is dangerous, irresponsible, and undermines our constitutional republic,” she added.
