A DAFI scholar - Ahmed graduated top of his class

Dear John,

Ahmed lost years of his education due to the conflict in Syria. But now, he is a successful graduate, working to support other young refugees to study for their own exams. This was thanks to support from generous donors like you.

After studying hard and receiving a high grade at high school, Ahmed was accepted onto UNHCR’s DAFI scholarship programme 🎓 to study Translation. The scholarship not only covers tuition fees and materials and associated costs – including housing and transport – but it also provides students with additional skills, training and networking opportunities to help them prepare for work.

Despite the difficulties of studying while living in a refugee camp, such as lack of transport and internet issues, Ahmed graduated top of his class. Now, he works with a fellow humanitarian organisation, facilitating IT classes, as well as doing translation work for the University of Arizona.

UNHCR empowers refugees through DAFI Scholarship

Our DAFI scholarship programme 🎓 is helping to shape young refugee lives around the world. More than 9,000 students from 50 different countries are currently benefitting from the unique package of support this scholarship provides.

But the demand is higher than we can meet. There are talented refugees out there right now who don’t have any opportunities for work or further education, and they are losing hope for their future.

Imagine the impact your support can have on 120 million other refugees like Ahmed who need us now more than ever. Stand #WithRefugees and make a difference. Please consider making a donation today.

With best regards,

Monia Hassan
