Our campaign to close prisons is heating up this summer. Join us for these upcoming events and ways to take action to make real gains toward a California without cages.
1. Tue 7/9: Join our Webinar on AB 2178 & Send a Support Letter
As a result of our organizing, our campaign has been successfully advancing AB 2178, a significant piece of legislation that aims to shrink CA's prison system! Join us on Tuesday, July 9th, at 6:30PM for a webinar where organizers will be discussing AB 2178, what it will specifically do, how it fits into our broader campaign to close prisons, and how you can get involved.
2. Sat 7/20: Join our Rally in Norco, CA to Demand Prison Closure!
We are making huge gains in the struggle to close prisons. Let's keep the momentum going! Join us for a rally in Norco, CA on Saturday, July 20 starting at 9am to show massive support for the CRC Norco prison closing. We will be rallying at a location near the prison, exact location TBA. Please RSVP to get information and stay updated.
Join us and Californians United for a Responsible Budget in our #CloseCAPrisons campaign to demand that Governor Newsom close at least 5 more state prisons, starting with CRC Norco. Our state can save $1.5 billion in ongoing operational cost savings, plus billions more in infrastructure costs, all while reinvesting in our communities.

Phone Line Volunteers needed: Support CR’s prisoner correspondence!
CR is looking for new volunteers to take on 1-2 shifts per month for our Prisoner Solidarity Phone Line program! Through phone calls with imprisoned people, CR strives to foster strong political relationships with people in cages to break cycles of isolation, stay informed on conditions inside, connect people inside with CR's work and campaigns, and to ensure that our work is grounded in the vision and needs of those most impacted by the prison industrial complex.
Reach out to [email protected] to get onboarded and get support from CR's Phone Line Coordinators.
