  • Parks and streets are for public use, not private living.

Supreme Court Empowers Dallas to Deal With Vagrancy Crisis

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has delivered a major victory for Dallas and every other city dealing with the nationwide homelessness crisis. The case in question, Grants Pass vs. Johnson, ended with the SCOTUS opinion that cities are allowed to enforce their bans on urban camping.

The Supreme Court understands that parks, streets, sidewalks, and roads are not fit for private residence.

Unfortunately, as the Dallas Express reported, Dallas City leaders seem less intent on seizing the opportunity for improvement. Council Member Jesse Moreno says, “I am currently reviewing the Grants Pass case and will be consulting with the City Attorney’s Office regarding its effect on the City of Dallas.”

There is nothing to review; the enforcement of a statewide Law is not optional!

Dallas homelessness and crime are only continuing to rise, while City Council refuses to enforce our laws. Use the button below to contact your council members and ask them to begin enforcing the ban on urban camping!

DPD Ends Long Standoff With Officer-Involved Shooting

A tragedy took place near White Rock Creek this weekend. After a prolonged standoff with police, Cody Watkins was shot and killed by DPD. For almost an hour DPD were trying to get the suspect of a family violence case to drop his knife. The police department handled the situation well, and we are thankful for that. Dallas must choose a better path for itself; this culture of crime is destroying our families!

Tracking Illegal Camps:

This Week, Executive Director, Joseph Porter, went live from the Denton Creek encampment to showcase how vagrancy has destroyed a park intended for the nearby neighborhood. The City has done minimal clean-up, but it is clearly not enough. KDS will return to this spot to provide more updates on how it is being handled.

District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno

"Underpass Trash Camp"

This camp in Jesse Morenos’s District 2 has been dubbed “Underpass Trash Camp.” Found in South Dallas, this encampment is surrounded by ridiculous amounts of trash. Vagrancy has completely claimed this entire section of the city. Do not travel to this part of town unless it is absolutely necessary. The City is FAILING!

District 13 Councilwoman Gay Donnell Willis

"Fenced Away Camp"

This camp in Gay Donnell Willis’s District 13  has earned the title “Fenced Away Camp.” This vagrant has taken up residence at this break in a fence. He is living right alongside I-635, near the intersection of Frontage Rd, an area that is rife with panhandling and vagrancy. City Council must work to end vagrancy and make Dallas safer!

District 2 Councilman Jesse Moreno

"Construction Blockade Camp"

We named this camp in Jesse Moreno’s District 2 “Construction Blockade Camp.” Dallas is so inept at cleaning up its streets that we now have construction workers trying to fix bridges, forced to work around the chronic vagrancy. DPD does not have the bandwidth to clear these people out.

Mission Statement:

Keep Dallas Safe exists to address crime and homelessness in Dallas with the goal of transforming Dallas into the safest large city in Texas for residents and businesses. We aim to have a City Council that prioritizes crime rate which directly determines the quality of life in Dallas. We do this by fighting against the "defund the police" movement, holding accountable our city leaders' efforts towards lowering district crime rates, and highlighting our city's homelessness problems by pushing for enforcement of the prohibition of urban camping.
