LGBTIQ Community Impacted by Hurricane Beryl

Dear John,

Over the last few days, Hurricane Beryl has caused catastrophic damage in the Caribbean. Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Barbados have been the most affected.

While it is too early to tell the full extent of the damage in each of the affected islands, we know that countless members of our LGBTIQ family are already turning to Outright International and our partners in the region for food, water, shelter, building supplies, and care.

Members of our global family in the Caribbean are among the most marginalized in the region. They often experience discrimination and are exposed to the threat of violence mainly due to the criminalization of same-sex relations and the stigma associated with being part of the LGBTIQ community. 

Climate-related disasters, like Hurricane Beryl, tend to magnify the existing inequalities that LGBTIQ people face, with many experiencing limited or no access to vital emergency relief. That is why we invite you to join us in providing vital resources today.
