James, the Supreme Court ruling that gave the presidency “absolute immunity” and could let Trump off the hook for January 6 is not something that should happen in a democracy. That’s why Bernie is calling for a SCOTUS ethics act to address the “out of control” Supreme Court.
Bernie called SCOTUS, “a right-wing, corporate-sponsored Supreme Court that continues to serve an extremist agenda.” He said the only way to begin to address the right-wing, corrupt, Trump-friendly Supreme Court is by forcing the conservative justices to end their corruption.
Stand with Bernie: Congress must pass a strong, enforceable code of ethics to hold right-wing SCOTUS justices accountable. End the corruption that led to the Trump immunity ruling!
SCOTUS endangering democracy with its Trump and Chevron rulings also led Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to announce plans for articles of impeachment to deal with the “corruption crisis” on the Court.
After Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and the other right-wingers on the Court gave a dangerous amount of power to American presidents, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote, “The president is now a king above the law” and that the ruling could now allow the president to order the military to kill political opponents.
This is NOT what should happen in a democracy. Absolute immunity? It’s just shocking. And could release Trump from all legal culpability related to his efforts to overturn the results of a democratic election.
Bernie and AOC are right to pursue serious legislative actions against the Supreme Court. It’s our only choice.
