General Election 2024 results as Labour keeps both seats in Oldham
 
Oldham residents took to the polls along with the rest of the UK as Labour won a landslide victory at the general election.
 
In Oldham both constituencies were held by Labour.
 
Debbie Abrahams, who has represented Oldham East and Saddleworth since 2011, was re-elected after receiving 14,091 votes. The turnout was 54.75 per cent.
 
And in Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton, Jim McMahon, who was first elected in 2015, won with 13,232 votes, with a 50.99 per cent turnout.

Tune in to the Summer Music Festival 

Oldham Music Centre is holding its Summer Festival – and you're invited to come along and listen to some of the borough’s best musicians in action.

Watch live performances on stages inside and outside Oldham Parish Church, Rock Street, Oldham OL1 3UH.

From brass bands to guitars, orchestras to rock bands and choirs to wind bands, there will be something for all musical tastes on display.

Performances start from 4pm on Friday 12 July and 10am on Saturday 13 July.

It’s time for stories to come alive
 
We want your youngsters to become reading superstars over the school holidays by being part of our free Summer Reading Challenge.
 
It’s a great way to keep the minds and bodies of four to 11-year-olds active over the school holidays.
 
Those who sign up will get to explore new reading material, develop skills, and discover new interests.
 
We also want you to design our new sustainable library card, with the winner taking home a voucher to Summit Up.
 
Sign up at StoryFest on Saturday 13 July, 11am to 3pm at Oldham Library or any other borough library.

Walking for endometriosis this weekend
 
Join Endometriosis Awareness North for the Walk and Talk Endo event in Alexandra Park on Saturday, July 6 at 10.30am. 
 
The event will start from The Boathouse Cafe to raise awareness and funds for endometriosis research.
 
Endometriosis, where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes, affects one in 10 women, causing severe pain and impacting daily life.
 
This event is an opportunity to support those affected, and share experiences. Dr Anita Sharma, a specialist in endometriosis, will be there to offer insight and support.

Oldham Pride returns for 2024
 
The ever-popular Oldham Pride festival is back with a range of entertainment and activities across the town centre on Saturday 20 July. 
 
The Pride parade event will travel through the town centre to the Queen Elizabeth Hall where community stalls, a youth event and a main stage cabaret will be held!
