President Biden Considering Dropping Out of 2024 Election if Next Few Campaign Events Do Not Go Well
Ed Morrissey: Should I stay or should I go? That’s the rock-and-roll version of Shakespeare’s “to be or not to be.” Given that Democrats face a tragedy of their own making in propping up a clearly incompetent Joe Biden for a run at a second term, feel free to choose your own reference, but it’s a tragedy or comedy of their own making. After several days of Biden and his campaign denying that they had asked the existential question, the New York Times reported in the last hour that Biden is indeed mulling a withdrawal — if his spin attempts fail to correct the damage he did on Thursday ( HotAir). New York Times: Mr. Biden’s allies said that the president had privately acknowledged that his next few appearances heading into the July 4 holiday weekend must go well, particularly an interview scheduled for Friday with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News and campaign stops in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin ( New York Times). Reporter Chris Houck: CNN confirms The New York Times story that Biden knows his reelection campaign may not be salvageable if he doesn’t show improvement and contrition in the coming days ( X). Reporter Erik Watson: WH denies NYT report Biden weighing dropping out ( X).

Associated Press Mocked After Publishing Article Stating Biden is “Sharp and focused but sometimes confused and forgetful"
This is “fiery but mostly peaceful protests” all over again. Just the News: The Associated Press was mocked on the social media platform, X after it posted an article with the headline, “Biden at 81: Sharp and focused but sometimes confused and forgetful.” The article was posted Wednesday evening with responses mocking the article… Recently, President Joe Biden and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump squared off in the first presidential televised debate where Biden’s performance was widely panned as confused and mumbling. This has resulted in White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying that “jet lag” was the cause of his poor debate performance, while some Democratic leaders called on him to drop out of the presidential race ( Just the News). Libs of TikTok: An actual headline. You don’t hate the media enough ( X).

Biden Tells Democrat Governors He Needs to Cut Events After 8 PM Because He Needs More Sleep
Biden just telegraphed to all of our enemies exactly when they can attack us and our allies. New York Times: President Biden told a gathering of Democratic governors that he needs to get more sleep and work fewer hours, including curtailing events after 8 p.m., according to two people who participated in the meeting and several others briefed on his comments. The remarks were a stark acknowledgment of fatigue from the 81-year-old president during a meeting intended to reassure more than two dozen of his most important supporters that he is still in command of his job and capable of mounting a robust campaign against former President Donald J. Trump. Mr. Biden’s comments about needing more rest came shortly after The New York Times reported that current and former officials have noticed that the president’s lapses over the past few months have become more frequent and more pronounced ( New York Times).

White House Reporters Regret Not Reporting on Biden’s Mental Decline
Fox News: Some members of the White House press corps who have regular exposure to President Biden are now admitting they were “turned off” from exposing his mental decline before last week’s debate in part because of the attention it has got from “right-wing media.” Since Biden’s shocking debate performance, the legacy media has faced intense backlash from critics accusing them of participating in a cover-up on behalf of the president. CNN reported Tuesday that reporters working from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. are now expressing regret for not pursuing the political bombshell more seriously ( Fox News). Katie Pavlich: How pathetic and lame. I thought journalism was about “following the facts” ( X). Reporter Andrew Kerr: By merely existing and calling a spade a spade, Conservative media “turned off” legacy reporters from seriously investigating Biden’s mental acuity ( X).

Donald Trump Extends Lead Over President Biden in New York Times Poll

Mr. Trump now leads Mr. Biden 49 percent to 43 percent among likely voters nationally, a three-point swing toward the Republican from just a week earlier, before the debate. |

Republicans Introduce Legislation Ensuring Colleges Protect the Civil Liberties of Students on Campuses
Just the News: Reps. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., introduced legislation that would penalize universities for failing to protect students’ civil rights. Entitled “the University Accountability Act,” the legislation comes in response to an increase in antisemitic incidents on college campuses…. The legislation would “require colleges and universities that meet the penalty criteria to pay a fine of either five percent of the school’s aggregate administrative compensation as reported on the school’s Form 990, or $100,000, whichever is greater.” Rep. Malliotakis said that if universities receive federal tax dollars, “they should be doing more than simply giving a slap on the wrist to perpetrators of hate” ( Just the News). News4SA: House Republicans have made it a top priority to combat antisemitism as another academic year approaches. The House Committee on Education and the Workforce in June issued a deadline to Columbia University to produce texts from administrators which allegedly downplay campus antisemitism. Days later, the university placed three administrators allegedly connected to the texts on leave ( News4SA).

Federal Court in Kansas Blocks Biden’s New Title IX Regulations in Four Additional States
This brings the total number of states to block the new regulations to 14. Just the News: A federal court in Kansas on Tuesday blocked the Biden administration’s Title IX regulations from taking effect in four states, becoming the latest court to stop the new controversial rules from taking effect in August. The Department of Education’s new rules expanded the definition of sex discrimination to include gender identity and pregnancy, and included a ban on single-sex bathroom and locker rooms. It also required schools to use pronouns based on a student’s preferred gender identity. The new rules have now been stopped in 14 states as of Tuesday ( Just the News). Washington Examiner: In addition to sex-specific facilities being at issue, Judge Broomes ruled the new Title IX rules violate the First Amendment, as they would force students and teachers to use “preferred pronouns” and alternative names to refer to some students with gender dysphoria. Broomes ruled it would undermine the speech of those who “want to articulate that sex is immutable and binary” and “refer to individuals with biologically accurate pronouns” ( Washington Examiner).

Karine Jean-Pierre States Biden Said No Troops Killed Under His Watch Because He “Deeply” Cares for Servicemembers
Fox News: White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that President Biden’s debate-night blunder in which he claimed no U.S. troops had died under his watch was made because of how “deeply” he cares about servicemembers. “The president was making a comparison between how many servicemembers have died under his leadership versus in previous years. That’s what the comparison that he was making,” Jean-Pierre said during Wednesday’s press briefing. “He was doing that because he cares so deeply, cares so deeply about them and their families and wants to keep troops safe.” The comments came in response to a question about Biden’s debate claim that he is the “only president this century” not to have troops die on his watch ( Fox News). RNC Research: Karine Jean-Pierre DEFENDS Biden’s outrageous, false debate claim that no U.S. troops have been killed abroad on his watch: “The president was making a comparison” ( X).
