Friend --
The American Declaration of Independence and subsequent victorious
American Revolution was no local matter. Like-minded patriots
worldwide were keenly focused on the attempt to create a completely
revolutionary, oligarch-free form of government based on the idea of
"consent of the governed."
As John Quincy Adams wrote in his July, 4th 1821 speech, it was
"the corner stone of a new fabric, destined to cover the surface of
the globe. It demolished at a stroke the lawfulness of all governments
founded upon conquest. It swept away all the rubbish of accumulated
centuries of servitude. It announced in practical form to the world
the transcendent truth of the unalienable sovereignty of the
people."
Let us restore that great international mission, once so clearly
understood and embraced by past patriots of our nation but so
forgotten today.
