This week the Supreme Court granted Donald Trump immunity for “official acts” he took as president.

This decision is dangerous, anti-democratic, and unprecedented.

Trump promised that he would be a dictator on day one of a second term. Now, if he gets the opportunity, that is exactly what he will be.

Trump promised he would go after his political enemies, like those on the January 6th Committee.

With their 6-3 decision in Trump v. United States, the Court’s ultra-conservative justices just rolled out the red carpet.

This extremist Supreme Court, with a majority of its justices appointed by Republican presidents who lost the popular vote, has issued a decision that will live in infamy. This shocking, destructive decision that Donald Trump will have immunity for official act validates the former president’s attempts to undermine our democracy.

It flies in the face of our founding principles that no one, not even the president, is above the law.

If our leaders can be immune from liability for criminal acts like overturning the outcome of an election, it may be the end of our republic.

It’s shameful, it’s dangerous, and the Court knows it.

This partisan Supreme Court just doesn’t care — and worse, the extremist justices are actively empowering a president to be a king.

Our country is in grave danger if we allow any president to stay in power after losing and being held immune from consequences.
