Dear John,

This week marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. One way we’re celebrating:
Blocking dirty energy projects around the country, including pipelines that would cut across our precious public lands, threaten
endangered wildlife, and unleash climate chaos.

We know that the clock is ticking -- we only have 10 years to avert the worst
impacts of climate change. To stand a chance, we need to keep 80 percent of
known fossil fuel reserves in the ground.

But dirty investors and fossil-fueled politicians are using the COVID-19 crisis
as an excuse to accelerate investment in, and construction of, new wells,
pipelines, and export terminals. To make matters worse, Trump’s administration
is trying to get rid of one of our most important tools for fighting these
projects and holding corporations accountable. So Friends of the Earth is working harder than ever to rein in the power of Big
Oil and Gas, and we need your help.

Help fight fossil fuel projects that would unleash climate and habitat
destruction: Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth today.

One project we’re working to block is the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP). An environmental and human rights disaster, the ACP would transport fracked gas
across the Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway , and along hundreds of rivers and wetlands, as well as national forests,
including the Monongahela and George Washington National Forests.

This would permanently scar some of America’s most iconic protected areas, and
destroy needed habitat for endangered wildlife.

In addition, the ACP would carry enough gas to generate over 67 million metric
tons of climate pollution per year -- the equivalent to 20 average U.S. coal
plants. And it would disproportionately destroy low-income, African-American,
and Indigenous communities.

One effective tactic to stop this destructive project, and others like it, is by
stopping their financial backers. We had a recent win: Thanks to your activism, Wells Fargo just announced it
won’t fund drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge!

Through strategic corporate campaigns and the growing Stop the Money Pipeline
coalition -- which is holding national days of action this week for Earth Day -- we’re committed to ending the financing of environmental destruction.

But Trump’s Administration is trying to dampen the effectiveness of these
corporate campaigns. We have a lot more work ahead, and we urgently need your help.

Help stop environmentally destructive dirty energy projects that fuel climate
chaos: Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth today.

Unfortunately, Trump's administration is using the distraction of one global
crisis -- COVID-19 -- to attack and undermine our ability to address the next
one -- climate change.

Amidst the pandemic, Trump’s Securities and Exchange Commission is trying to gut
one of our best tools to hold the financial backers of climate chaos accountable , by making it more difficult for activists and ordinary investors to use the
power of their voice and vote at corporations.

Meanwhile, Trump’s Federal Reserve is using the pandemic to increase corruption
among fossil fuel funders. They just handed a huge amount of power to Blackrock, the world’s largest
investor in oil, gas, coal, deforestation and other destructive industries.

Blackrock has been given a central role in managing the $2 trillion bailout
overseen by President Trump, deciding which corporations receive assistance as
part of the coronavirus aid package.

It will likely use its new power to keep climate-destroying corporations afloat,
potentially toward purchasing and using its own funds and financial products --
a huge conflict of interest. And it could mean a lot more money going toward
climate destruction.

So Friends of the Earth is ramping up our activism and our hard-hitting
research, producing reports and securing media coverage to expose polluters and
demand accountability. We’re a tenacious watchdog for people and our planet. But
more than ever, we need your support. We can’t do this work without you.

Celebrate Earth Day by helping fight the industries bringing us closer to the
brink of climate devastation. Donate $10 to Friends of the Earth today.
