First, I want to thank everyone who pitched in ahead of last week’s major Federal Election Commission (FEC) deadline. Your support is so critical to our success in the fights ahead.
Ultra-conservatives on the Supreme Court delivered blow after blow to our fundamental rights and the foundations of our democracy over the last few weeks. From functionally re-legalizing machine guns, revoking federal agencies’ regulatory ability to protect our health and the environment, and destroying the notion that no one, not even the president, is above the law.
This is a tenuous moment for our country, which makes it more important than ever that Democrats unify to defeat extremism across the country.
And as we celebrate Independence Day this holiday weekend, I’m reflecting on the core principles of our democracy and recommitting myself to protecting the ideals our country was founded on – true equality and justice for all people, and the right to live free of tyranny.
