Hi John,
Today, my friend Ellie is becoming a U.S. Citizen. I couldn't think of a better way of celebrating the holiday: Today, Ellie gets the right to vote.
As a DACA recipient, Ellie has worked for decades to build progress here in Arizona. She's worked in the heat; she's worked with organizations; she's made sure our communities have a voice in the decision making process. Now, she finally gets to use a voice of her own.
In Ellie's own words: "It feels surreal, like a dream almost. The past 12 years I’ve spent my days and career making sure that those in Arizona who CAN vote do so. Through my work, I’ve helped thousands of Arizonans exercise their right to vote—all the while hoping and dreaming of the day when I would too be able to cast a ballot in an election for my state, city, and home. Today after weeks of preparation and six citizenship questions… BAM! It’s happening!!!"
I'm so honored to share this moment with her.
Two decades ago, I started organizing with Mi Familia Vota to make sure every citizen is empowered to use their voice the way Ellie has been today. I'm still committed to making sure our communities have a seat at the table and equal opportunities to succeed. That's what the American Dream is really about, and that's what I'm celebrating this Independence Day.
Sí se puede,
Raquel Terán

For nearly 20 years, she's been fighting for higher wages for workers, healthcare for all, and better schools for our children.
She's helped build broad and diverse coalitions that have beaten Republicans like Donald Trump, Joe Arpaio, and Kari Lake.
Now she's ready to take the fight to Congress, but we'll need your support to win. Chip in today! [[link removed]]
