Friend,
Today, our nation celebrates its 248th birthday! The United States of America has stood as a beacon of freedom, liberty, and independence for almost two and a half centuries.
Our nation was earned with the blood sacrifices of the brave men and women who were willing to stand up for liberty and our right to self-determination.
When we gather with friends and family to enjoy fireworks and cookouts today; we must remember our forefathers who formed this great nation. It's incumbent on each and every one of us to carry on the ideals of our Founders so our children and our children's children can live in the land of freedom.
The last few years have shown us just how fragile that freedom is. It has never been clearer that a powerful and prosperous America is not a guarantee. We must fight for it every day.
As an Army veteran who flew hundreds of combat hours during Operation Iraqi Freedom, I remember my lost friends and brothers who gave their lives for the preservation of our nation. We must never forget the sacrifices of those who have given everything for the Red, White, and Blue.
This Fourth of July, as I spend time with my family in Michigan, I'm glad to be reminded just what I’m fighting for in Congress. I’m fighting for the people in our district who depend on a strong America to flourish.
Enjoy our Independence Day. God bless America, and God bless you and your family!
