Team,
Today is a moment to pay tribute to the sacrifices of service members, their families, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
As a veteran myself, I know what’s required of those who serve our country. Sacrificing time with our families and friends, experiencing the loss of loved ones, and missing birthdays are part of the commitment when we pledge to safeguard and uphold the Constitution. They are sacrifices made for the betterment of all.
Defending the freedoms of all Americans is an honor, but I’m concerned that the rights that so many of us have fought for are being eroded.
In Washington and even within our own state, many of us took the oath with pride, but some seem to have lost sight of its true significance. It is deeply troubling to see elected officials, who also took that oath, supporting, promoting, and empowering the individual responsible for continuous assaults on our democracy.
As we celebrate today and the individuals who continue to make our freedom possible, let us commit to honoring them by upholding the principles they have fought for.
From my family to yours, Happy Independence Day.

Frustrated by the lack of action from lawmakers on the issues facing people in Mississippi–and believing that the hard-working voters of Mississippi deserve much better–Ty Pinkins decided to run for office: the United States Senate in 2024.
