New Laws
On July 1 of this year, several new laws went into effect here in Minnesota. A full list of the new laws can be viewed here, but I want to take the time to highlight one very impactful provision - the new tax on deliveries.
Passed in 2023, the new delivery tax will apply to most orders over $100 including necessities like diapers, clothing, pet and office supplies, and other household essentials. The new tax is projected to raise $189 million in revenue and is just one of the many new or increased taxes & fees implemented this biennium while the majority spent the record-breaking surplus. I was proud to vote against this new tax.
It's absolutely ridiculous that the DFL majority hiked your taxes despite having a record-breaking surplus last session.
Presidential Debate
Last week President Trump and President Biden had their first debate. As you can imagine, it didn't go well for President Biden. It was so bad, in fact, that rumors are now swirling around whether Biden will even be able to finish the race. After the debate, CNN's coverage said that multiple Democrat operatives were in full panic. Even NBC on Twitter said that Democrats are in a panic.
While this is encouraging for Republicans, we can't let off the gas. Stay informed and keep up the pressure!
I would love to hear from you on who you think they'll replace Biden with, if at all. Reach out and let me know your thoughts!
Again, have a happy 4th of July! Thank you for reading and staying engaged.
