Friends, Happy Independence Day! As we mark a holiday dedicated to celebrating this country’s optimistic founding and our democratic ideals, I am reminded even more of the urgency of protecting the building blocks of democracy that our founders laid out. The right to vote, the notion that all of us are created equal — these are foundational to our country but are now under attack.
I’m committed to doing everything I can to protect them, and today I’m glad to be joyfully honoring the things that have always made America great: pursuit of freedom and democracy, commitment to justice and equality, and love of country.
