John,
On this day, 248 years ago, our nation declared independence for some . Of course, women could not vote, Black people were still enslaved, and LGBTQ people could be killed just for being who they were.
So, today, as we celebrate our democracy and independence, I’m reflecting on independence and what it means for over 300 million Americans.
Between MAGA extremists pushing their agenda to fully strip away our reproductive rights, Republican legislatures discriminating against LGBTQ+ communities, and the systematic incarceration of Black people across the country, we know that the "land of the free'' only means freedom for some .
We need to ensure that our nation continues to work toward justice and equity for each and every person. I, for one, am committed to taking this fight to Congress. But it takes work from all of us.
So today, as we celebrate, let's remember to fight for freedom every chance we get, and commit ourselves in the fight for true equality under the law for all.
Thank you and I hope you have a happy Fourth of July weekend!
Joe

Now, I'm running for Congress because we need a Democrat who will run toward the problems facing our nation – and solve them, not ignore them. Washington, D.C., is riddled with gridlock, corruption, divisive rhetoric, lack of civility, and too much grandstanding. Career politicians like Young Kim are only adding fuel to the fire, and I know how to put those out." - Joe Kerr
