This Fourth of July, as I march in my first Bristol parade as an elected official, I’m reflecting on our nation’s founding ideals.
|
Our founders imagined a system of self-governance free from a tyrannical king. They believed in a government where all are created equal and entitled to life, liberty, and opportunity to realize their dream. |
Farmers and merchants—average citizens—banded together to declare independence and spark a revolution for freedom. This same spirit has endured across tireless generations of Americans who made it their mission to ensure our founding principles are truly secured for all citizens. |
Thanks to the brave service of heroes who put their lives at risk and have given the ultimate sacrifice, as well as a legacy of those pushing us to reach our highest ideals, our country continues to stand as a shining beacon of hope for those seeking strength. Our story is a testament to our founding beliefs and commitment to advancing that sacred cause. |
As we celebrate our progress this Independence Day, let us remember the one idea that changed the world: freedom. |
Please take a moment to remember the shared history that binds us together as we continue our work to ensure we can shine ever brighter tomorrow. |
