July 4 is one of our favorite holidays. From the fireworks to the barbecues, we love celebrating our country’s founding, reminding ourselves of the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, and reflecting on all the work ahead of us to become a more perfect union.

The history of the American Revolution and our nation’s founding is rooted in the very fabric of New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District. From December 1799 to June 1780, General George Washington and the Continental Army camped at Morristown, ultimately staging the groundwork to secure American independence. They survived a bitter winter in pursuit of a nation defined by freedom and justice.

Just as they did 247 years ago, the people of New Jersey have been willing to make sacrifices for their neighbors and stand up for what is right. In Congress, Mikie works hard every day to live up to the words of the Declaration of Independence, uphold her oath to the Constitution, and pursue liberty and opportunity for our country’s future generations.

So from the heart of the American Revolution — New Jersey — we’re wishing you a happy, safe, and peaceful Independence Day!
