Happy Independence Day.
A quick note from me, before you get back to the hot dogs and fireworks.
I joined the Marines because this country gave so much to me and my family, and I wanted to give something back.
When you join the military you swear an oath to defend and protect the Constitution — not the president, not Congress, and definitely not a king or a dictator.
It isn’t lost on me that this Independence Day comes at a time when our Constitution and our democracy are under great threat. But I’ll tell you this: Marines are the First to Fight. And I’m going to do everything I can to hold up my corner in the fight for our democracy.
If you’re feeling anxious, I don't blame you. None of this is easy. But I also know that the best way to shake off those nerves is to put your emotions aside, focus on what you can control, and get to work.
Today, enjoy the holiday. Tomorrow, we get back to work.
Thank you for your support, and Semper Fi.
