John – Happy Fourth of July!

As we gather today with friends and family for barbecues, cookouts, and fireworks, let’s reflect on the true meaning of the Fourth of July.

When our forefathers drafted the Declaration of Independence, they envisioned a nation where all people were created equal, laying the foundation of our country on the principles of freedom, equality, and justice.

For many Black and Brown Americans, the promise of equality and freedom has been an ongoing struggle. Despite significant progress, there are still many challenges to overcome in the pursuit of true equality and justice.

This struggle reminds us of the importance of our individual and collective actions. Today, I’m recommitting to furthering our nation's vision. Whether it’s voting for leaders who defend our democracy or advocating for marginalized groups, all of our actions shape the future of our country. I hope you’ll join me.

As we watch the fireworks light up the sky tonight, let them remind us of not just our independence but also the diversity and strength that make our country strong. Together, we can strive to fulfill the promise of freedom and equality for all.

Thank you,

Dwight Evans
