Team,

Today, people across the country are celebrating Independence Day. It’s Pat’s favorite holiday — and ours, too. Today is about celebrating our country’s founding, and reflecting on the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.

From his 27 months in combat in the Army to his time in Congress, Pat has never taken the freedoms we hold for granted. Freedom is ours only if we continue to cherish and fight to preserve it. The great American experiment and the history of our nation has been a story of expanding freedoms for people. We’ve failed in many ways in the past and present, but we know that the right direction of our country is making good on the promise of freedom for all people.

But right now, there are those fighting to go in a different direction. To take away our freedoms. Extremists are putting the pursuit of personal power over the freedoms and the democracy that Pat risked his life to defend as an Army officer.Pat has always fought for freedom, and the hope of building a more perfect union is constantly driving his work. Together, we can achieve progress and defend our foundational rights. Let’s take today to renew our commitment to a more equal and just country, and come back even stronger tomorrow.

Thank you for your support,

— Team Pat Ryan
