Today, we celebrate our freedom and independence. But we must also confront a critical challenge: the need to protect democracy and restore America's fundamental values of freedom, justice, and liberty.

Just this Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that Donald Trump may claim immunity from criminal prosecution in the January 6th case, further delaying a trial on federal election interference charges against him.

No individual should be exempt from the law in our nation and no branch of government should be free from accountability or justice.

This SCOTUS ruling undermines the Constitution upon which it is built. Throughout our history, we have faced significant setbacks, but this decision threatens the very foundation of our democracy.

We must unite and defend the democratic principles our country was founded on.

The upcoming November Presidential election isn’t going to be easy. That’s why we must commit to voting, organizing, marching, and persisting until every person experiences the independence, justice, and liberty promised by our nation.
