This week the Supreme Court granted Donald Trump immunity for “official acts” he took as president.

This decision is dangerous, anti-democratic, and unprecedented. Trump promised that he would be a dictator on day one of a second term. Now, if he gets the opportunity, that is exactly what he will be.

Trump promised he would go after his political enemies, like those on the January 6th Committee.

With their 6-3 decision in Trump v. United States, the Court’s ultra-conservative justices just rolled out the red carpet.

This extremist Supreme Court, with a majority of its justices appointed by Republican presidents who lost the popular vote, has issued a decision that will live in infamy. It is now clear that defeating Trump at the ballot box is our only way forward to save our democracy. Our country is in grave danger if we allow any president to stay in power after losing and being held immune from consequences.

It is clearer than ever that the first and last line of defense for our democracy is the ballot box, not the courts.
