On Monday night, I joined Rachel Maddow live on MSNBC to discuss a Supreme Court decision on Donald Trump’s immunity claim that is far worse than anything I had imagined.
Under this conservative Court’s 6-3 ruling, a president can:
- Order the assassination or jailing of their political rival, and be immune
- Take a bribe in exchange for an official act, and still be immune
- Organize a military coup to hold onto power, and still be immune
If that sounds mad, that’s because it is.

We need to take this Supreme Court decision extremely seriously. As Rachel was describing Trump’s countless attacks against me at the start of our interview, I learned that Trump had posted another attack the day before on his social media feed threatening to jail me.
John, I led Trump’s impeachment and he has vowed revenge against me ever since. But I will tell you this — I would do it again in a heartbeat. But I also want to do everything I can to make sure another Trump impeachment is never necessary, because he is never president again.
But his attacks are unceasing.
He personally threatened to primary any GOP congressman who refused to go along with their sham partisan censure of me in the House.
Now, he is once again openly threatening to jail me.
