Dear Neighbors,
I hope you?re gearing up for a fun Fourth of July weekend! Although the gloomy forecast for tomorrow isn?t ideal, I hope you?ll have a chance to spend quality time with friends and family.
A big thank you to all the first responders and frontline workers who are staffing our ambulances, hospitals, and grocery stores, and patrolling our streets to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday. Our hometown heroes sacrifice so much, especially on days of celebration and tradition. I had the privilege of returning to where it all began for me - Maplewood, where I first learned how to be a firefighter and EMT. I am grateful for the opportunity to observe their incredible work and dedication firsthand.

*July?s New Laws*
On July 1, several new policies and investments we passed at the State Capitol this year took effect. You can find a comprehensive list of all the new laws from the office of nonpartisan House Public Information Services here [ [link removed] ]. One of these includes updating the credentialing process for individuals who previously held an EMS Credential as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or Community Paramedic. You may be eligible to reinstate your expired EMS credential and apply for re-entry/reinstatement with these requirements:
* *Emergency Medical Responders (EMR)*
* Expired between 10/31/2020 and 10/31/2023
* Complete an EMR Refresher course through a Minnesota approved Education Program
* Complete the EMR Re-entry of EXPIRED Personnel Application
* *Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)*
* Expired between 03/31/2014 and 03/31/2024
* Meet the EMT Renewal Requirements
* Receive a letter of recommendation from an Ambulance Service Medical Director
* Complete an EMT, AEMT & Paramedic Re-entry of EXPIRED Personnel OR Reinstatement of EMT, AEMT
* This new reinstatement application period is available July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2025, then the grace period reduces back to 4 years.
* *Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)*
* Expired between 03/31/2014 and 03/31/2024
* Meet the AEMT Renewal Requirements
* Receive a letter of recommendation from an Ambulance Service Medical Director
* Complete an EMT, AEMT & Paramedic Re-entry of EXPIRED Personnel OR Reinstatement of EMT, AEMT & Paramedic Certification application.
* This new reinstatement application period is available July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2025, then the grace period reduces back to 4 years.
* *Paramedic*
* Expired between 03/31/2014 and 03/31/2024
* Meet the Paramedic Renewal Requirements
* Receive a letter of recommendation from an Ambulance Service Medical Director
* Complete an EMT, AEMT & Paramedic Re-entry of EXPIRED Personnel OR Reinstatement of EMT, AEMT & Paramedic Certification application.
* This new reinstatement application period is available July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2025, then the grace period reduces back to 4 years.
* *Community Paramedic*
