We need to talk about the Comstock Act.

The Comstock Act is an outdated, 150-year-old law that has not been enforced for more than a century. But MAGA Republicans are trying to revive it — and they want to use it to roll back abortion rights even further.

After the Supreme Court denied a request by anti-abortion activists to restrict access to medication abortion, Trump and his right-wing allies are planning to apply the Comstock Act to make it illegal to send medication abortion like mifepristone through the mail.

This could make it extremely difficult for women to access this form of life-saving reproductive care, even in states like New Jersey, where abortion is legal.

That’s why Mikie is a proud co-sponsor of the Stop Comstock Act, which would repeal elements of this arcane legislation and ensure any administration led by extremists like Donald Trump can’t use it to block women from making choices about their bodies.
