Last week I introduced H.B. 2450, which would clarify the membership eligibility of the Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS) for new non-public employees from state-related organizations while simultaneously guaranteeing the continued eligibility of those presently in the program. This ensures no more exceptions are made and that PSERS is reserved for those who are employees of the public employee pension program. This bill was passed out of committee and is now under consideration of the full House.
I also recently introduced legislation that will take the necessary steps to make Pennsylvania a leader in clean energy. Getting the Best out of Pennsylvania’s Hydrogen Hubs will help to regulate any future hydrogen hubs in our commonwealth to ensure hydrogen production is cleaner than nonrenewable sources. Additionally, it will create a tax credit incentive for those who make the switch to clean hydrogen energy. As plans develop for hydrogen production in the state, now is the time to ensure that Pennsylvania leads by example by producing hydrogen responsibly.
Finally, my bill, H.B. 2433, Stopping Foreign Influence in Elections, passed the House finally and now moves to the Senate for consideration. This legislation would prohibit foreign-owned corporations from contributing or donation to political campaigns so that no one and nothing influences the outcome of Pennsylvania’s elections.
My colleagues and I are in Harrisburg this week as we continue to finish our state budget. After the Fourth of July holiday, we are scheduled to be back from July 5th to the 7th and hopefully pass a budget that works for every Pennsylvanian.
