Just a few weeks ago I emailed you with a ton of pictures of all the places I’d been to recently on the campaign trail. Well let me tell you, I’ve been doing so much travel up and down Delaware that now I have a whole lot more to share!
Getting to hear from my neighbors throughout the state is my favorite part of campaigning, so here are the highlights of the last few weeks.
Most recently I had the chance to attend the third annual Unity Day BBQ in Dover. It was hosted by the one-and-only Dover Councilman Andre Boggerty, and it was an absolute blast! So great to see so many old and new friends.
I’m also so grateful to the Wilmington and New Castle County Democrats for inviting me to help open their 2024 rally and workshop. I’m so excited that Democrats are united as we work to hold the White House, elect Lisa Blunt Rochester to the Senate, win our campaign for the House, and send Delaware Democrats to Dover in record numbers! 🏆
I also had the privilege to kick off a beautiful Saturday morning surrounded by friends and community and faith leaders at the annual MLK Prayer Breakfast. The energy in that room was so uplifting!
And I certainly can’t forget speaking at The Democracy Summer Project, a fantastic seminar about my job as a state senator, the health of our democracy, and the major issues facing our state. A huge thanks to Ed Freel for organizing this program and helping facilitate connections between government and Delaware educators!
One extra special event for me was the 50th anniversary of the Italian Festival. It was so fun to march in the annual St. Anthony’s Procession of the Saints! (Big thanks to Grand Marshall Italo Carrieri-Russo for letting me march alongside him.)
I remember attending the Italian Festival every year as a kid and it was always a highlight of my summer. So great to be back this year! 🇮🇹
And last but certainly not least, I was so happy to see Wilmington turn out for the annual Juneteenth festival in Tubman-Garrett Park.
Delaware has been celebrating Juneteenth long before it became a national holiday, and it was great to see so many people — including my nieces Sydney and Teagan — out for music, food, community resources, and to commemorate a day that honors the fight for racial justice.
We’ve certainly been busy, and we’re not slowing down any time soon. This campaign is only just beginning! And I’m so grateful to have folks like you by my side.
