MADISON ? Gov. Tony Evers today delivered his weekly radio address celebrating the Fourth of July in Wisconsin.?

"Hey there, Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers here, wishing you a safe and happy Fourth of July!

This holiday weekend provides an opportunity to get together with friends and family, join community celebrations, and celebrate the founding of our country and the future we?re working hard to build together that, today, we must work even harder to protect.""

""The Fourth of July is an opportunity to reflect on our nation?s history and the cost of freedom, including honoring the many who?ve sacrificed and given their lives in service to their country.?"

"?"

"We also reflect on the values we hold dear?values like defending against attacks on our democracy, upholding basic tenets like peaceful transfer of power and the fundamental right to cast a vote, and our relentless pursuit to deliver on our country?s promise of freedom, justice, and equality."

"?"

"The Fourth of July reminds us that these functions exist because they are manifested by our collective ability to will them to continue.?"

"?"

"Our democracy is derived not from any one person, or any one office, or any one party, but from all of us?together. We cannot take for granted that important responsibility."

"?"

"Today is a reminder that democracy isn?t something that just happens for us, we must choose to make it every day.??"

"?"

"We owe it to those who came before us and those who come after us to never give up on that great experiment. And there is, as always, more work to do.

So, as we hit the parade routes, fire up the grill, spend time with friends and loved ones, and celebrate this holiday safely, we reflect on the work before us and renew our resolve to build the future we dare to dream of for our kids, our state, and our country?together. ??"

"
Happy Fourth of July, Wisconsin!?"
