[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

Thank you. We’re still totaling up the final numbers, but thanks to this team, we finished the quarter strong and are starting the general election on solid footing.

I know I asked a lot ahead of the FEC deadline, but please know I don’t send emails asking you for help lightly. I do it because your support matters when we’re up against deep-pocketed corporate interests. I know it’s a big deal to give to a political campaign, and I do not take that for granted. Not for a single second.

I also know that today, there’s a lot of anxiety and nervousness out there about our prospects this November. The stakes are enormously high — Donald Trump has made it clear that if he’s elected, he will further restrict abortion access, hand out another round of tax cuts to billionaires and corporations, and begin to transform our democracy into an autocracy. It’s scary stuff.

I don’t know how the campaign will shake out between now and November, but what I definitely know is that I can choose to sit around and worry or I can choose to ACT.

I’m not saying you should ignore your feelings. I just want you to channel these feelings into action. This week you can join a phone bank. You can sign up to knock doors. You can make a small donation to a candidate you believe in.

I’ve been a believer for a long time that there is no level of worry or anger or anxiety that can’t be cured by political action. The election result will be determined by us — how hard we work, how much we care about victory. The outcome is not decided. Each one of us has something to say about it.

Let’s get to work.

Every best wish,

-Chris Murphy
