Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, Happy Independence Day! As our nation prepares to celebrate the 248th anniversary of our independence, I am sending my best wishes for a safe and joyous holiday. Before the festivities begin, here are a few updates I want to share from my week: On Monday, I stopped by the Mountain Park library for my latest edition of Mobile Office Hours. While there, it was my pleasure to deliver a donation of books from the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program. In fact, I helped one young patron check out her first ever library book! On Tuesday, our American family here in Georgia grew by 150 people. Across the nation this week, we will celebrate and honor our founding ideals by hosting naturalization ceremonies and welcoming new citizens. I was honored to deliver the keynote address at this week's naturalization ceremony in Gwinnett County. Congratulations to our new citizens! As our community continues to grow and evolve, we must make smart infrastructure investments that support economic development, mobility, and accessibility for all. I was so pleased to sit down with officials from the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation to receive updates on projects across the county, including several which have received federal funding through our legislative work in recent years. Keep up the great work, Gwinnett County! Finally, I want to share a brief message about safety this holiday weekend. As a mother and as your congresswoman, it is vitally important to share information that will keep our community healthy and safe. In light of Fourth of July firework celebrations, I spoke with Gwinnett County Fire Chief Fred Cephas about the best ways to be smart around fireworks--check out our public safety message by clicking the image below! Thank you for taking the time to read this update. It is my honor to serve our community in Congress.
