It’s important to me to keep my supporters in the loop, so I wanted to share some big updates from last month!

1.
I
announced
that
Mercer
University
has
been
awarded
$99,994
from
the
Department
of
Health
and
Human
Services
to
improve
rural
health
care
services
and
fight
opioid
abuse.
Rural
communities
face
unique
obstacles
maintaining
facilities
and
services
that
provide
them
with
the
care
they
need,
and
these
funds
will
help
ensure
that
every
community
has
quality
health
care.
2.
I
shared
that
the
Jack
Hadley
Black
History
Museum
is
receiving
a
$413,425
grant
to
help
the
museum
expand
its
programming.
Museum
grants
help
these
critical
institutions
thrive,
educate
more
people,
attract
tourism,
and
generate
economic
growth
in
our
communities.
3.
I
announced
that
the
U.S
Department
of
Health
and
Human
services
has
awarded
a
$4,768,208
Head
Start
grant
to
the
Middle
Georgia
Community
Action
Agency.
I
will
continue
fighting
in
Congress
for
programs,
like
Head
Start,
that
support
local
organizations
that
improve
the
lives
of
Georgia’s
families
and
sets
our
children
up
for
success.
4.
I
shared
that
the
National
Park
Service
is
giving
a
$250,000
grant
to
the
City
of
Byron
and
a
$50,000
grant
to
the
City
of
Centerville.
This
federal
funding
will
go
toward
recreational
facilities,
which
are
good
for
the
health
and
wellbeing
of
our
communities
by
creating
safe,
accessible
spaces
that
bring
families
together
and
encourage
children
to
socialize
and
play
with
one
another.
