This week's Supreme Court decision to give full immunity to presidents for any official act they commit while in office puts democracy at great risk.

This extreme and dangerous decision changes a founding principle of our country - that no one is above the law. The limited power and checks and balances in the U.S. system of government have kept us free from authoritarians, kings, and dictators for more than 200 years. That ended this week.

We got here because Donald Trump appointed three of the nine current justices who make up a conservative majority that eagerly rolls back not just progressive priorities, but also common-sense laws and long-accepted constitutional protections.

In just the past few weeks, this Supreme Court has eroded the authority of federal agencies, made it harder to prosecute corruption, made it easier to pollute, gave a free pass to January 6th insurrectionists, and allowed cities to make it a crime for homeless people to sleep outside.

It is absolutely essential that we win back the majority in the House, keep the Senate, and defeat Donald Trump. Congress must have a majority that will strengthen institutions, uphold the rule of law, and protect voting rights.

At this challenging and critical time, I thank you for standing with me,

Suzanne
