On Monday, the US Supreme Court delivered a devastating ruling giving Donald Trump partial immunity for his criminal offenses, putting the future of democracy at risk.

This is beyond bad, John. It’s clear that our far-right Supreme Court is determined to prioritize protecting Trump over preserving the integrity of the highest court in our land.  As a citizen who loves this country, this is very concerning to me.

Supporting down ballot progressives who will fight for your rights and freedoms at the state level is crucial in the face of the spreading far-right wildfire. Will you make a contribution to the IA Senate Dems to help us take back the Senate Majority?

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the future of democracy in our country is at stake, and we are working hard to deliver the vote for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, John.

In her dissent, the Honorable Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor criticized the fact that this ruling would give future Presidents legal immunity against criminal prosecutions. 

John, this means future Presidents could: 

Assassinate a political rival. 

Organize a military coup to hold on to power. 

Accept a bribe in exchange for a pardon. 

And not face any criminal prosecutions. 

With this ruling, SCOTUS has effectively made our President a king and dictator that is above the law.

This goes against the founding principles of our country.

As far-right lawmakers continue to force their extreme agenda at the federal level, it’s more important than ever to support progressives at the state level who can help mobilize grassroots support for our congressional candidates.
