*LANSING, Mich. *?Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointment of Adrianne Van Langevelde to the 56A District Court in Eaton County.??

?

?I am proud to appoint Adrianne Van Langevelde to the bench in Eaton County,? said *Governor Whitmer*. ?She brings a breadth of experience to the job as a prosecutor, member of the state?s parole board, and city councilor. Adrianne will serve the people well and uphold the rule of law.??

*56A District Court ? Eaton County*?

?

Adrianne Van Langevelde is a Michigan Parole Board Member at the Michigan Department of Corrections, a position she has held since December of 2020. She previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney at both the Mecosta and Eaton County prosecutor?s offices. During her time at the Eaton County Prosecutor?s Office, she was designated as the child abuse and neglect prosecutor for three years and as the domestic violence prosecutor, handling all intimate partner cases.??Additionally, Van Langevelde clerked for the Hon. Thomas S. Eveland of the 56th Circuit Court in Eaton County.?

In November 2021, Van Langevelde was elected to serve a two-year term on the Charlotte City Council. She is currently an appointed member of the City of Charlotte?s Tree Board and Parks Committee. Van Langevelde also has served on the Eaton County Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Team and the Eaton County Domestic and Sexual Violence Coordinating Council. She is a current member of the Eaton County Bar Association and previously served as its secretary and treasurer. She is also a member of the Association of Paroling Authorities International.?

Van Langevelde graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in social relations from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 2006 and received her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 2008.?

Regarding her appointment,?*Van Langevelde* said, ?I am truly grateful and humbled to be appointed to the 56th District Court and would like to thank Governor Whitmer for granting me this honor. I will work diligently to ensure that everyone who comes before me is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness under the law.??

This appointment was made to fill a partial term following the resignation of Judge Kelly Morton, who was appointed to the 56th Circuit Court. Judge Van Langevelde?s term will commence on July 22, 2024, and expire at twelve o?clock noon on January 1, 2027. ??
